Saxony has 11 statewide public holidays: the nine nationwide ones, Reformation Day on 31 October and, uniquely, the Day of Repentance and Prayer, on Wednesday 17 November in 2027. Corpus Christi is added only in some Catholic places of Sorbian Lusatia around Bautzen, Kamenz and Hoyerswerda, as listed in the Corpus Christi ordinance, for example Crostwitz, Panschwitz-Kuckau, Ralbitz-Rosenthal or Wittichenau. There the count is 12. Saxony kept the Day of Repentance when the other states dropped it in 1995 to fund long-term care insurance; in return, employees in Saxony pay a larger share of the care insurance contribution. In 2027, 6 statewide holidays fall on weekdays and 255 working days remain. The Wednesday Day of Repentance can be stretched to five days off with two leave days.

The Day of Repentance and the Sorbian municipalities
Section 1 of Saxony's Sunday and holiday act lists eleven statewide holidays and lets the state government designate Corpus Christi for municipalities with a predominantly Catholic population. The Corpus Christi ordinance names those places one by one; most lie in the area of the Catholic Sorbs between Bautzen, Kamenz and Hoyerswerda. In the calculator, choose under "Your municipality" whether Corpus Christi applies to you.
In 2027 the Day of Repentance falls on Wednesday 17 November. Take Monday and Tuesday or Thursday and Friday off and you have five days in a row. More on Corpus Christi, including Thuringia, is on Corpus Christi.
