Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has 11 statutory public holidays. Section 2 of its holiday act adds Reformation Day on 31 October, kept since 1991, and since 2023 International Women's Day on 8 March to the nine nationwide ones. That made it the second state with this holiday after Berlin; the state parliament also wanted to narrow the gap with the southern states. In 2027 Women's Day falls on a Monday and makes a long weekend, while Reformation Day falls on a Sunday. In all, 6 holidays fall on weekdays and 255 working days remain. 2028 looks much better: Women's Day on a Wednesday, Reformation Day on a Tuesday, and 3 October also on a Tuesday. Ten leave days can buy 32 days off in 2028, against 24 in 2027.

Two holidays of its own
The Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania holiday act was extended with Women's Day with effect from 2023.
